While the centuries old game of billiards has certainly evolved over the years, its general premise and spirit have remained largely the same. But as technology increasingly creeps into every aspect of our lives, we have to wonder what the next century will hold for our favorite game.
We’re already seeing robots getting into the game and, although they had a tough time at first, they seem to be really catching on to billiards’ nuances. With artificial intelligence in on the game, what’s next? Will smart tables that track our scores, flag our areas for improvement, and help us refine our shots become the norm? What about augmented reality laser guides? Or will the game retain its tech-free status and appeal?
What do you think the next one hundred years will hold for the game of billiards?
